Aussie Wine Month - Wynns Black Label Cabernet Sauvignon

2012 Wynns Black Label Cabernet Sauvignon

Taste…

Deep dark intensity with a purple tinge.

An abundance of violet, plums & dark fruits straight up, which is supported by notes of clove & oak spice.

This wine is just as interesting & delightful on the palate as it is on the nose. Dark fruits, oak spice & a slight mintiness fill the palate. While the elegant tannin structure & intense flavours drive the wine to finish beautifully.

“I will be taking this wine home!” – Jane (Amazing Administrator)

Region…

Coonawarra is a world famous Cabernet Sauvignon region also known for its amazing terra rossa soil. A distinctive band of thin free draining red soil that overlays a bed of soft limestone. Coonawarra has a typically favourable cool continental style climate that gives the vines a cool long ripening period to develop intensity & balance. However, frost & windy condition during fruit set are severe risks.

Coonawarra’s inland location in the main differentiating factor from Margaret River & its costal location. Coonawarra’s cooler continental climate produces dense, dark-fruited wines with assertive, ripe tannin and acidity. Whereas Margaret River’s mild & consistent maritime climate creates wines with an elegant balance of sweet core fruit & fresh integrated acidity with a range of silky/earthy tannin structures.
